originally settled in the time of the Old Republic and mined by industrious,
hardy colonists; and became prosperous in spite of its unceasing torrential
rains. When the Corporate Sector Authority was chartered, Prometheus'
mining operation was one of its first "acquisitions." The Authority brought
indentured contract laborers from dozens of worlds to do the mining, and
brought its Corporate Security Police (Espos) to enforce its edicts. Now
what remains of Prometheus' mineral wealth is shipped to Authority
strongholds in other systems, and the inhabitants are left to slump into
poverty and crime.
