Houses

Houses are owned and controlled by you, the player. You determine how large it will be and what the layout of the rooms will be.

You can expand houses as much as you like, within the limits of the house, although it is unlikely that you will ever completely fill it.

Before you consider buying a house, please read this help file carefully.

• HOW DO I BUY A HOUSE?
  • You buy a house at the Real Estate Agency, which can be found on the Stargazer in the Ukio system. The notepad that you fill out will prompt you the price of the house of your choice.


• WHAT DO I GET?
  • You get a house, consisting of a single room. You can expand your house by buying more rooms. The room is a decorative furniture only room, that will come with a complimentary storage bin.


• HOW DO I BUY A ROOM?
  • Rooms are bought at a real estate agency, just like houses. You fill out another notepad, identifying the room you want to have added, and its type. Don't forget to add a door to the room, or you won't be able to access it.


• ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROOMS?
  • Yes there are different types of rooms. There's decorative rooms, technical rooms and storage rooms.


• DECORATIVE ROOMS?
  • Decorative rooms are the cheapest type. This room can hold only decorative furniture, as opposed to technical and storage furniture.


• TECHNICAL ROOMS?
  • Technical rooms can hold decorative and technical furniture, but no storage furniture.


• STORAGE ROOMS?
  • Storage rooms can hold decorative and storage furniture only.


• WHY DO I NEED STORAGE FURNITURE?
  • You can't drop anything in your room except for furniture. You can store items in storage furniture however.


• WHERE DO I BUY FURNITURE?
  • Furniture shops are typically found near real estate agencies. It is rumoured that their stock changes regularly.


• HOW MANY PIECES OF FURNITURE CAN I FIT INTO A ROOM?
  • You can add up to 5 pieces of furniture into any of your rooms.


• YOU MENTIONED BUYING DOORS?
  • Indeed, you have to buy doors separately from your rooms. You determine where the exits of your rooms are.


• SO, HOW ABOUT PRICES?
  • Houses are expensive. The starting price is 500,000 credits, for a single room, although it includes a small storage bin. The prices of additional rooms depend on the type of room, the number of rooms you already own, and a few other factors.
    • The base price of a decorative room is 500,000 credits.
    • The base price of a technical room is 1 million credits.
    • The base price of a storage room is 2 million credits.
  • The further away from your first room the new room is, the more it costs. Rooms on higher floors cost more than rooms on lower floors.
  • Doors cost 100k credits each.


• BUT I CAN'T EVEN CARRY THAT KIND OF MONEY AROUND!
  • Of course not. You pay for it by charging your credit card's savings account. You can deposit money using the 'sdeposit' command at any teller.


• CAN I OWN MORE THAN ONE HOUSE?
  • For the time being at least, you can only buy one house.


• DO I LOSE MY HOUSE AND/OR FURNITURE AT REBOOT?
  • No, of course not! Unless, of course, you messed up when installing the furniture.
